In short
- You must be 18 or older. One Lightlyn account works across all Lightlyn services, with one credit balance and one set of terms.
- New accounts can claim 30 free credits; after that you can get credits free with the daily check-in, or by buying a Starter pack or subscribing. Credits can’t be exchanged for cash. Credits are charged only when a generation succeeds; failed ones are returned.
- Subscriptions renew monthly and can be cancelled online at any time. Dodo Payments handles payments as our Merchant of Record. Within 30 days of a payment you can request a refund for what you haven’t used.
- What you upload stays yours. To the extent we can assign them, the rights in what you generate are yours too.
- Don’t create sexual, graphically violent, hateful, child-endangering, deepfake or infringing content. Violations can lead to refused requests or a suspended account.
This summary is for convenience and does not replace the full terms below.
1. Scope and operator
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Lightlyn about your use of the Lightlyn services. Lightlyn is operated by Linger, an individual developer. “We”, “us” and “our” mean that operator; “you” means the person using the services, or the organization you represent.
“Lightlyn services” means lightlyn.com, image.lightlyn.com and their pages, the Lightlyn account, Lightlyn Images and, once released, the Lightlyn desktop app and its cloud features. Where a service has supplementary terms (for example a software license for the desktop app), those terms apply together with these; if the two conflict, the supplementary terms prevail for that service.
By creating an account, buying, subscribing or using any Lightlyn service, you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the services.
2. The services
Lightlyn Images is a web image service. You can generate and edit images from text descriptions, prompt templates and uploaded reference images, keep refining them over several turns of a conversation, and save the results in a private library to download.
Lightlyn for Mac is a desktop app in development and has not been released. Once released, it will process files on your computer and send content to our services only when you choose a cloud feature, and only what that feature needs.
The services rely on third-party AI models and infrastructure. Lightlyn Images currently generates images with OpenAI’s GPT Image 2.5 model (in its Flare and Sunburst versions) and forwards requests through Cloudflare. If the models we use change, we will update the relevant pages. Lightlyn is an independent product and is not affiliated with, partnered with or endorsed by OpenAI.
The services are digital services provided online. Once a payment succeeds, the credits and any library storage it includes are added to your account immediately and can be used right away.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use the services on behalf of an organization, you must be authorized to do so, and that organization is also bound by these terms.
- You can sign in with an email sign-in link or code, or with a third-party sign-in we offer (such as Google). Please use a real email address you can access, and keep your sign-in methods secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. If you notice someone else using it, tell us right away at help@lightlyn.com.
- An account is for one person. You may not sell, rent or transfer your account, or create several accounts to get around limits or claim offers more than once.
4. Credits, plans and payment
4.1 What credits are
Credits are the unit used to pay for pay-per-use features of the Lightlyn services. Credits are not money, a deposit or an e-wallet. They earn no interest and cannot be transferred, sold, exchanged for cash or moved to another account; refunds are handled only under the Refund Policy. Credits belong to your Lightlyn account and can be used in any Lightlyn service that accepts credits.
4.2 Plans
The current plans are listed on the pricing page:
- Free: a new account can claim 30 credits once; they expire 30 days after you claim them. Each email address and the accounts linked to it can claim them only once, and the number given out each day is limited. Once signed in, you can also check in once a day for 3 credits. The day changes at midnight Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Check-in credits expire 30 days after you claim them. Library storage is 100 MB. Each generation makes 1 image, and the next one starts after the previous one finishes.
- Starter pack: a one-time payment that gives you 800 credits and raises your library storage to 1 GB. Starter pack credits never expire and the extra storage is permanent. You can buy it again: credits add up, storage does not stack. It does not renew automatically. While you have unused Starter pack credits, each generation makes up to 4 images, and the next one starts after the previous one finishes.
- Monthly subscription: a recurring monthly payment. You receive 1,500 credits at the start of each billing period and 5 GB of library storage while subscribed, returning to 1 GB when the subscription ends. Credits left unused at the end of a billing period carry over to the next period when the subscription renews and expire at the end of that period; carried-over credits do not carry over again. During a paid period (including after you cancel renewal, until the period ends), each generation makes up to 4 images and you can run two generations at once.
In the United States the Starter pack costs US$9.90 and the subscription US$14.90 per month, before any applicable sales tax. In other countries, the price is shown in your local currency or in US dollars on the pricing page and at checkout, and includes applicable taxes.
When credits are spent, the ones that expire soonest are used first: sign-up and check-in credits, then subscription credits, then Starter pack credits. Credits we give you (for example in a promotion or as compensation) may have an expiry date, as stated when they are given.
4.3 How credits are charged
The credit price of each feature is listed on the relevant pricing page. Lightlyn Images charges per image according to the resolution tier you choose; generating several images costs the sum of each, and reference images cost nothing extra. When you submit a task, we reserve the credits it needs. They are charged once the task succeeds, and returned if it is confirmed to have failed or did not pass a safety check. If a result can’t be confirmed yet, the credits stay reserved until we verify whether the image was generated and saved; you can contact us about it at any time. Not liking a result does not by itself count as a failure, but you can ask for a manual review.
4.4 Automatic renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the price then in effect, until you cancel. You can cancel online at any time under “Manage subscription & billing” in Account & settings › Billing, or from the subscription emails Dodo Payments sends you. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period: you won’t be charged again, and you keep that period’s credits and storage until it ends. If a renewal payment fails and still fails after retries, the subscription ends. Refunds for subscriptions are covered in the Refund Policy.
4.5 Library storage
Storage is measured by the actual size of the original images and uploaded reference images in your library; thumbnails don’t count. If you have more than one plan at the same time, your storage is the highest of them, not the total. When a subscription ends, storage returns to 1 GB; a purchase that has been refunded no longer provides extra storage.
If you go over your storage, nothing is deleted automatically by default: you can still view, download and delete your work, but new images can’t be saved until you free up space or upgrade. If you turn on “When the library is full, remove the oldest images” in your library, then whenever you go over, images and their reference images are permanently deleted starting from the oldest, while conversation text is kept. If we ever need to clean up accounts that stay over their storage for a long time, we will give at least 30 days’ notice by email so you have time to download your work.
4.6 Price changes
The current per-image prices are launch prices. When per-image prices change (including when regular prices take effect), we will publish the new prices on the pricing page and notify you by email. New prices apply only to tasks submitted after they take effect; they are not retroactive and do not reduce the number of credits you already have. If you don’t accept a new per-image price, you can ask for a refund of your unused paid credits. Before changing the subscription price, we will give at least 30 days’ notice; the new price applies from the first billing period after the notice period, and you can cancel before then.
4.7 Payment
Payments for the Starter pack and subscriptions are processed by Dodo Payments. Dodo Payments sells to you as the Merchant of Record: it collects payment, calculates and remits applicable sales tax or VAT, issues receipts and handles payment disputes. You will also need to accept Dodo Payments’ terms when you pay. The amount shown at checkout, including taxes, is the final amount due. We never see or store your full card details.
5. Refunds and cancellation
Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy, which is part of these terms. In short: within 30 days of buying a Starter pack you can get a refund in proportion to the credits from that purchase you haven’t used, and a full refund if you haven’t used any; within 30 days of a subscription payment you can get a refund for the remaining days of that billing period; credits for a generation confirmed to have failed are returned automatically. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method.
You can stop using the services at any time and ask us to delete your account. Before deleting it, please cancel your subscription, download any work you want to keep and request a refund for eligible unused paid credits; credits cannot be restored after deletion.
6. Your content and outputs
Your inputs. The images you upload, the prompts you write and other content you provide (“inputs”) remain the property of you or their original rights holders. You confirm that you have the right to upload and use them, including any people’s likenesses, trademarks and other people’s works they contain.
Your outputs. To the extent permitted by law and to the extent we hold any rights, we assign to you the rights in the images generated for you through the services (“outputs”). You may use outputs for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and the rights of others. AI-generated content may not be protected by copyright in some places, and other users may receive similar results, so we do not guarantee that outputs are original or exclusive.
How we use them. You grant us a limited license to store, process and transmit your inputs and outputs, as described in the Privacy Policy, only to provide, maintain and protect the services and to handle support, security and legal matters. We do not display your work publicly, sell it or use it to train models.
Feedback. We may freely use suggestions you choose to send us, without paying you.
7. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In brief, you may not generate or upload sexual or sexually suggestive content, graphic violence or gore, hateful content, anything that endangers children, deepfakes or impersonation of real people, or content that infringes copyright, trademarks, likeness or privacy. The services do not offer face swaps, “undressing”, placing real people in intimate scenes or inventing what real people say or do — not even when the people involved are said to consent.
If you upload photos of real people, you must be the person in the photo or have the clear consent of everyone in it. You also may not get around safety measures, scrape the services in bulk, attack or disrupt them, resell access to them, or use outputs to train models that compete with Lightlyn.
8. Moderation and enforcement
To enforce the Acceptable Use Policy, every generation request carries our rules on prohibited content, the image model applies its provider’s own safety limits, and we review cases manually when needed. Requests that clearly break the rules are not generated, and their credits are returned. The process is described in the moderation section of the Acceptable Use Policy.
If you break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, we may, depending on the case, refuse requests, remove or quarantine content, limit features, suspend or close your account, and report to the authorities where the law requires. Our response will be proportionate to how serious the violation is; serious violations (for example involving child safety or deepfakes of real people) may lead to immediate account closure.
If we close an account, unused paid credits are handled under the Refund Policy and applicable law. Where an account is closed for a serious violation, we may, to the extent the law allows, decline to refund amounts connected with the violation. You can appeal by writing to help@lightlyn.com; we will look at the case again and reply.
9. AI outputs and availability
AI-generated results can be inaccurate: text in images may be wrong, details may not match your description, edits may change parts you wanted to keep, and results may resemble existing works. Check outputs yourself before publishing, using them commercially or relying on them. Outputs are not professional advice.
We work to keep the services reliable, but we do not guarantee that they will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that they will produce the result you want. The services may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance or failures of third-party models or infrastructure. Please download and back up any work you want to keep long term.
10. Changes to the services and termination
We may add, change or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice in advance of changes that significantly disadvantage you. If we stop providing a paid service altogether, and not because you breached these terms, we will refund your unused paid credits and the remaining days of your current subscription period.
You can stop using the services and delete your account at any time. Parts of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as content rights, limitation of liability and dispute resolution) continue to apply afterwards.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the services are provided “as is” and “as available”. Except as expressly stated in these terms, we make no other warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, such as loss of profits, data or goodwill. Our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid for the order that gave rise to it (for a subscription, the fee for the period in which the claim arose); for claims not related to a paid order, it is limited to US$10.
These limits do not exclude or limit liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for losses caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws where you live.
If your breach of these terms or infringement of someone else’s rights leads to a third-party claim against us, you will cover the reasonable resulting losses and costs, to the extent the law allows.
12. Disputes and governing law
If something goes wrong, please contact us first; we will try to resolve it with you within 30 days. This does not affect your right to seek help from your payment provider, a consumer protection authority or a competent court.
These terms are governed by the law of the place where the operator is based. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you habitually live, and you may bring proceedings in the competent courts there. These terms do not require arbitration and do not limit your right to take part in a class action.
13. Updates to these terms
We may update these terms and will show the new version number and effective date on this page. We will tell you about important changes at least 14 days in advance by email or in the service. If you keep using the services after an update takes effect, you accept the updated terms. Updates do not apply retroactively to earlier purchases and never authorize a charge you have not agreed to.
14. Contact us
For questions about these terms, refund requests, reports and appeals, email help@lightlyn.com, preferably from your account email address.
These terms may be offered in several languages. The English version is the official version; if a translation differs from it, the English version prevails.
